GBHU "SOLD OUT" OF RADON TEST KITS
11/7/2018 10:23:57 AM

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has sold out of radon test kits.

In an effort to promote November as Radon Awareness Month, the health unit had just under 500 free kits to give away.

For those that registered, the free radon test kits will be sent by mail.

Kits include the testing unit, instructions, information on radon and a pre-paid envelope to return the kits to the testing lab.

The health unit says radon exposure is the second leading cause of lung cancer, and an estimated 20% of lung cancer deaths in Grey Bruce were due to radon.

Test kits are left in a home for three months, then mailed to the lab for testing. Individuals will receive the test results directly.
