BLUEWATER DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD CONSIDERING EXPANDING NALOXONE KIT AVAILABILITY
10/11/2018 2:31:07 PM

The Bluewater District School Board has been asked to consider putting naloxone kits in elementary schools.

The kits are already available in secondary schools.

It was discussed at the last committee of the whole meeting that the kits would be more for adults to use but would be available if students need it.

Naloxone is an opioid reversal which helps a person to start breathing again, if they have overdosed on opioids.

Naloxone doesn't have side effects, so if a person using it has not overdosed, they won't be hurt.

Besides having them in schools and first responders being equipped with the kits, anyone can pick up a free naloxone kit at their pharmacy.
