BLUEWATER SUMMER PLAYHOUSE SEEKS COUNCIL'S ASSISTANCE

The Bluewater Summer Playhouse is seeking some assistance with the rent.

The goal at Kincardine's May 17th Council meeting was for BWSP administrators to obtain enough to cover the organizations rent payments, and to have $10 000 of rent arrears forgiven of a total of $15 000 currently owed. They plan to pay back the remaining $5000 over the course of 3 years. This would make it possible to apply for community grants.

The alternatives: Council consider stable funding through Tourism, or the organization closes down.

On average, a summer season for the BWSP costs around $160 000, after all expenses are covered which include payment of staff, actors, and various other amenities.

The organization cannot operate during the winter, because the space is utilized by the Kincardine Theatre Guild from September until June.
