GRANT APPLICATION TURNED ASIDE AGAIN

It's not the first time Goderich has taken NO for an answer.

Canada's Prettiest Town's plans to extend Warren Street to Bethune Crescent have been on the books since 2012, but the proposal took another hit when a grant application to the Ontario Community Investment Fund was turned aside by Queen's Park.

Town Chief Administrative Officer Larry McCabe says funding for the reconstruction may eventually come through, as the pool of money for the entitlement portion of OCIF has recently been boosted.

McCabe says Goderich hasn't had much luck in making grant applications to get the work done, but will come up with yet another alternative plan.

Pressure to get the Warren Street work done has intensified since the Ontario Municipal Board turned aside an objection to the planned subdivision construction from rival Central Huron firm, A-2-A Homes last summer.
