The Huron and Perth district health units are coming together and aren't planning on losing any jobs. Chair of the Huron County Board of Health, Tyler Hessel says the goal of the merger is to benefit all residents that rely on services provided by these health units.

WALK A MILE EVENT IS ON THIS WEEKEND

The annual Walk a Mile in her shoes event is coming up in Port Elgin on Sunday, May 27th. The event will be held at the Queen's Bar and Grill in Port Elgin. Last year close to 50 men participated in the event.

The Kincardine Fishing tournament is well underway now. The 10 day fishing event got started last weekend and yesterday the first Atlantic Salmon was reeled in by Randy Hyatt weighing 6.57 yesterday.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING TOP PRIORITY AT GODERICH COUNCIL

Goderich is looking to tackle the issue of affordable housing. The Huron County Planning and Development team is looking to add a 29 unit apartment building on the cul de sac on Strang Court. 12 of those units would be set aside as affordable housing.

TORCHED TRUCK FOUND IN SAUGEEN FIRST NATION

The Bruce Peninsula OPP is concerned for public safety after a gun was stolen and truck torched in Saugeen First Nation. Police say the incident happened last Tuesday when the black 2006 Dodge truck was taken from a residence on Cameron Drive.

The South Bruce OPP is looking into the theft of tools from a home in Brant Township. Police say the suspect stole the tools from a residence in the 900 block of Bruce County Road 4 at the start of the month.
