It was a busy March Break for the OPP, as they dealt with many distracted drivers on the roads. Huron County OPP laid 36 charges, an increase from the 24 that were laid during the 2016 spring campaign.

Following a fire over the weekend in Clinton, the affected buildings are slated to be torn down. Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn says the Municipality issued an order under the building code due to the unsafe conditions of the buildings.

Huron County OPP has identified the deceased in the sudden death at the Compass Minerals Goderich Salt Mine over the weekend. On Saturday, March 18th just after 6:15 AM Huron County OPP officers and the Huron County Paramedic Services responded to the salt mine following a 9-1-1 call.

POLICE AND MINISTRY INVESTIGATING DEATH AT THE GODERICH SALT MINE

Few details are available at the moment but the Huron County OPP and the Ministry of Labour are investigating a death at Compass Minerals. The scene was secured and the mine cleared of staff underground by the company pending the results of the investigation. A post mortem is scheduled for Monday.
