Saugeen Shores has its first challenger to oppose incumbent Mayor Mike Smith in the Municipal Election. Greg Schmalz, the spokesperson for Saugeen Turbine Operation Policy which opposes the Unifor Wind Turbine located in Port Elgin, has filed his papers to oppose Smith in the election.

Saugeen Shores Police are searching for a dog accused of biting a man in Port Elgin. Police say a 43-year-old man was walking along the multi-purpose trail on North Shore Road where it meets Miramichi Bay Road around 2 p.m.

When you start complaining about the heat today remember what it was like last summer. Temperatures are expected to reach 30 plus today and will feel hotter with the humidex. However last year we had about 10 days like this by the end of July.
